Key
Responsibilities:
Ensures all daily accounting functions (accounts payable, billing and accounts receivable) are done promptly, accurately and in accordance with internal control requirements.
Support and participate in the month end close process and the preparation of related financial reporting packages.
Prepare, review and analyze account reconciliations
Respond to audit requests and prepare audit schedules.
Prepare miscellaneous state and sales & use tax reports.
Performs job cost analysis, short term cash forecasting and reporting.
Supervises professional and clerical accounting staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Current CPA
5 years of previous experience as an Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant.
Knowledge and expertise in General Accounting, Percentage of Completion Method Accounting, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Payroll Taxes and Sales & Use Tax.
Experience using accounting software programs, such as JD Edwards ERP software or similar.
Skills/
Experience:
Strong technical accounting and analytical skills.
Proficiency in use of Excel.
Ability to learn quickly and work independently on assignments.
Well organized & detail oriented.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Advocate of team concept and a commitment to customer service.
Able to interact with all levels of management and field personnel.
Understands the organizational implications of work assignments and decisions.
Ability to train less experienced staff.
Experience working in a large, global construction and engineering service company is preferred.
