A circulating nurse is a registered nurse whose function is to monitor the procedures in operating rooms during surgery. During operations and other surgical procedures, the circulator is assist by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the hospital. Ensure that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient. Work side by side with scrub nurses to help maintain the sterile field in the operating room. Prepare the patient for the procedure and handle the preparation for the operating room before the surgery takes place. Assess the patient condition before a surgical procedure. Assess the needs of the patient during the procedure, to ensure the best outcome. Work with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery. Ensure that the sterile field is not compromised during the procedure. Keep the surgical area clean and organized for the scrub nurse and the physician; remove instruments and sponge as they are used during the procedure.
Requirements
Registered Nurse with current Texas License. 2
years experience in an operating room. Experience with orthopedic, spine, and general surgical cases. Effective written and verbal communication. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team focused environment. BLS ertification required.
